I got home after a long and taxing day at the hospital, the patients had been challenging but the doctors had been worse. It seemed as if they had been pulling on my last nerve and it finally snapped.

I sat down for just a minute to gather myself and figure out what I was going to do for dinner (a continual dilema) and I couldn't get up!

I was literally stuck to the chair (or so it seemed). My nerves were shot and so my body simply said "no you're going to stay and rest for a while" You see I've never been one to stop and rest, just go, go, go.

But this day something wonderful yet frightening happened. I was made to stop by some inner force inside myself that I had no control over.

So there I sat. I'm not sure for how long but it was long enough for me to quiet myself and deliberate on this strange event. As I let my mind go and released my thoughts I felt the muscles of my shoulders start to relax, then I unclenched my jaw and fingers, allowing them to become loose and limp.

I couldn't remember the last time I had allowed myself to relax. Something inside me said "okay girlfriend this is your wake up call... please answer the phone". I was able to get up from the chair and go about my business of getting dinner together and noticed something strange. I was actually humming!

From that day forward I decided that I had to give myself permission to rest, revitalize or to do something toward attaining some semblance of peace. Find SERINITY!

How did I do this?

By changing how I thought. I discovered that the junk I was mulling around in my head was not supporting who I wanted to be or become. When I started to look at my thoughts I began to discover that I had the power within my own mind to alter my life.

I also discovered that when I thought better thoughts, higher thoughts, more loving thoughts toward myself and others that weird stuff would happen.

For instance, a parking place would come available, or a new checker would open a new line and I'd be the first one; like finding a book I'd been looking for for years and I could afford to get it; like being introduced to someone who heard of a job that I had been wanting where I would make enough money yet be able to do my personal business on the side; like now (what you're doing) reading something that really struck a nerve and realizing that by following my intuition I could have a peice of golden information that would change my life.
